Overview

This Course has been designed for faculty, researchers, students as well as Industry professionals who are working in the domain of Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science Engineering.

The course mainly deals with real time Simulation studies in Power Systems using Real time simulator from Opal-RT and MATLAB/SIMULINK. Various studies such as load flows, transient studies using FACTS devices have been explained using real-time environment. The concept of Power Hardware in Loop has been practically demonstrated on a microgrid using real-time load and sensors. The course also deals with Smart Grid concepts such as Vehicle-to-Grid, Advance Metering Infrastructure and Internet of Things, Big data management and smart grid analytics, machine learning and artificial intelligence in smart grid, cybersecurity for smart grid system, block chain for smarter energy market.

The course has been designed in collaboration with eminent industries such as Opal-RT, Mathworks and IBM. After attending this course, the participants will be able to understand the concept of real time power system analysis and smart grid using software such as MATLAB/SIMULINK and real-time hardware i.e. OP4510.

Dr. Ritula Thakur


Dr. Ritula Thakur received B.E degree in Electrical engineering with Honours, M.E. degree in Power systems with distinction and Ph.D from Panjab University, Chandigarh. 

Currently, she is working as Assistant Professor at National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research, Chandigarh, India. Dr. Thakur has also worked as Visiting Scholar in Richard Russel Research Laboratory, Athens, USA.

Her research interests are in the areas of Real Time Modeling& Simulation of Power Systems, Power Quality,Micro Grid and Smart Grid,Modelingof DFIG based WECS, Embedded systems and Microcontrollers, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology in Agriculture, Quality Analysis and Detection Technology in Food Materials. Sensors and Instrumentation, PLC and SCADA,. She has around 150 papers in various Conferences and Journals.
