Overview

As we know that the establishment of an egalitarian society has been our cultural and civilizational aspiration for long. However, despite various efforts, discriminations in various forms exist in our society.

Gender discrimination is one such manifestation. Gender Studies needs to be understood by the scholars coming from all different streams of knowledge as gender justice is needed everywhere.

The proposed course on gender studies is an effort to comprehend the power relation, defining the male and female in socio-cultural context, flowing from entrenched patriarchy and power of dominance. It will help you in understanding nuances of patriarchy, gender and its inter-linkages with various institutions which define social relations.
