The present course i.e. Latest Trends in Pedagogy and Assessment will be focussing on two educational headways that are latest trends in pedagogy and latest trends in assessment.

Under the head latest trends in pedagogy this course will cover topics like, Constructivist pedagogy, Critical pedagogy, Multicultural pedagogy, Culture specific pedagogy, Pedagogy of moral and value education in a secular class, etc.

The second content area of the course will cover latest trends in educational assessment, and, in this area it will cover topics like, Latest trends and principles of classroom assessment, Concept of alternative assessment, Preparing and using Rubrics, Using portfolio for classroom assessment, Peer and self-assessment, CBCS i.e. Choice Based Credit System etc.

 1. Kaushal Kishore, Coordinator, National Resource Centre for Education

 Kaushal Kishore is currently working as a Professor in the School of Education of Central University of South Bihar (CUSB), Gaya. Before joining CUSB as Professor, he has worked as Associate Professor in CUSB, Assistant Professor in Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya (A Central University), Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh and J.R.H. University, Chitrakoot, Uttar Pradesh. He did his post-graduation in Political Science from C. C. S. University, Meerut, completed BEd, MEd, and PhD in Education from M. J. P. Rohilkhand University, Bareilly and qualified UGC-NET in December 2003. He has about fourteen years of experience of teaching UG and PG Classes and guiding research at various levels. He has participated in more than 40 International and National conferences. Three books (one authored, one edited and one translated) and more than 35 papers and articles published in various International and National journals are to his credit. He has delivered more than 35 invited lectures/talks/video lectures for MOOCs in various institutions and his publications bear Google Scholar citations, H-index and i-10 index.

In addition to his teaching and research assignments, he has served his present and previous institutions in various capacities, as Dean of School, Head of Department, Academic Coordinator, Chief Proctor (in two Universities), Assistant Superintendent in University Examinations, Election Officer for Students’ Election, Professor I/c of University Guest House, Cultural Coordinator etc. He is member of editorial board and review board of various academic journals. Presently, he is an office bearer and member of national executive of Indian Association of Teacher Educators (IATE), an oldest and leading professional body of teacher educators in India.

2.       Tapan Kumar Basantia, Course Co-ordinator and Associate Professor, School of Education, Central University of South Bihar, Gaya

 Tapan Kumar Basantia is currently working as an Associate Professor in the School of Education of Central University of South Bihar, Gaya. Before joining the Central University of South Bihar, he was working as Assistant Professor in Department of Education, Assam University, Silchar, Assam, and Lecturer in Department of Education (U.G.), Mizoram University, Aizawl, Mizoram. He has more than one and a half decades of experience in teaching to both undergraduate and post graduate (including M. Phil. and pre-doctoral) students of many universities including Regional Institute of Education (NCERT), Bhubaneswar. He obtained PhD (Education), M. Phil. (Education), M.A. (Education) M.A. (History) and M.A. (Distance Education) including Two Years B.Ed. from different Universities with Distinctions and/or first positions many times. He got UGC-NET two times and he is a UGC-JRF awardee. Under his supervision, more than eight students have been awarded Ph.D. and ten students have been awarded M. Phil. He has published more than twenty five papers (including edited volumes) in national and international journals and published a book in his area of research. He has completed a major research project sponsored by National Council of Rural Institutes (MHRD), Hyderabad. He has developed self-learning materials for the reputed institutions like NIOS, IGNOU etc. He has held the membership in many expert committees including committees of IGNOU and NCTE. He has wide experience in participating as well as coordinating many seminars, workshops, conferences etc.  He has been attached with many institutions / universities of the country in respect of question setting, conducting external examinations and many other purposes. He is the life member of many professional organizations.

A: All in-service teachers working in the discipline of Education, all in-service teachers working or interested in working in the areas of pedagogy and assessment, and all in-service teachers desirous to sharpen their knowledge and skill in the areas of pedagogy and assessment are eligible.

Q: What are the different facilities available for learning this course?
A: The course transaction shall include all the four quadrants of a MOOC (Massive open online course) i.e. e-tutorial, e-content, web resources, and self-assessment. This forty hours duration of the course will be divided into two segments: one is twenty hours video lectures and another twenty hours will be covered in the form of text, web resources and assessment.

Q: How is this course different from offline (face to face mode) refresher course?
A: Face to face course is an on-campus course but this course is an off-campus course. This is a self-paced and flexible course.
