Overview

The course would start by giving the students an idea of how multivariate studies are different from univariate studies. Some discussions on the multivariate distributions and their properties will then be made. The focus will then shift to techniques which are specific to multivariate data. This would include dimension reduction techniques and classification techniques, both of which are widely used for big data analysis, as also cause-effect models for correlated responses. All the methods will be illustrated through examples and in several cases through the use of the R software.
