This is an inter-disciplinary Refresher Course focusing on teacher and teaching in higher education. 

This course explores the theoretical background of teaching and practical knowledge for teachers in higher education. This course designs various activities for teachers and they have opportunity to apply in their workplace. During this course, teacher acquires various teaching skills, methods and models in higher education institutes. Therefore, the prospect of higher education is increasing continuously. 

This course helps learners to understand the objectives and development of higher education. It is trying to focus on various policies and commissions of higher education along with all concern bodies and councils. 

This course helps learner to realize  the role of teacher in making digital India. 

This course is initially design for the professional development of teachers working in the higher education institutions/ colleges/ university departments. 

Intended Audience:-  faculty members of any subject or discipline in graduation and post graduation colleges/ institutions and/or University can join this course. As per the guidelines of MHRD and UGC, participation in this course will be considered as one refresher for the CAS.

Course layout

This is a total 40 hours course, delivered through online videos, power point presentations and activities.  It will go at the rate of 4 hours a week. Reference material for sessions will also be provided online. End of the course examination will be conducted for evaluation and the candidates clearing the examination will be issued certificates.

Dr. Sanjeev Sonawane began his professional career as Science and Mathematics teacher in 1984 at Secondary School. Joined as Lecturer in 1987 after completing Teacher Education at C. Agashe College Pune . Then he moved to University of Pune in 2005 as Professor of Education in the Department of Education & Extension.
He was officiating Registrar of University of Pune in 2007 and completed term   as   Dean, Faculty of Education during 2001 to 2005 and 2011 to 2015. Member of Management Council during 2003-2005 and 2011 to 2015.
He has Postgraduate degrees in Educational Communication, Distance Education, Physical Education and PhD from University of Mumbai.
He is awarded Linnaeus Palme Teacher Exchange Scholarship of Swedish Government two times (2003 & 2010) participated in teacher exchange programme at School of Education & communication, Jonkoping University, Sweden.
He completed joint research project with Monash University Australia in the area Inclusive Education (2008) and Telemark college University, Norway on Multicultural Education (2014), ongoing International project on Teacher Education with South East Norway University, Norway of 1.8 Cr. 
He completed major research project by ISRO on Rural Communication in 2014, National University of Educational Planning and Administration (NUEPA) project on Governance & Leadership in Higher Education (2018). 
He delivered invited talk at Dhaka University (Jan. 2015), Colombo University (2014). 
Government of Maharashtra awarded “e-Maharashtra Award 2012” to Teacher Education-ICT Intel project to University of Pune implemented under his leadership. Pune Municipal Corporation awarded Best Teacher award in 2013, Recipient of Helen Keller national award 2016 
He authored seventeen books on Education and Physical Education. Around fifty two research publications at national and international level are to his credit.  Twenty seven doctorates had been awarded under his able supervision.
He has initiated a number of interventions and reforms in curriculum at different levels of educational sciences and participated in the formulation of education policies at state and national level, established new degrees and introduced new courses in the faculty of education.
He established ICT Base Learning and Research Lab for visually impaired at University of Pune.
He is founder member of Asian centre for Inclusive Education, Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Dr. Sanjeev Sonawane has been actively involved in the research in teacher education  and Pre & In service training programmes for teachers.

Dr. Vaibhav Jadhav is currently working as Assistant Professor in Department of Education & Extension, and Coordinator of School of Education in Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune

Research:
He is completed research project funded by NUEPA on Governance & Leadership in Higher Education of India, UNESCO-Bangkok project on Telecollaboration in Techer Education, UPE-Phase II project on e-Governance in Universities of Maharashtra and ongoing International project on Teacher Education with South Eastern Norway University, Norway and Tuning India Project with University of Deusto, Spain. And also, e-Governance and Management in Indian Universities project funded by IUCTE-MSU Baroda. He is working with UNESCO Bangkok, Thailand and Seoul, South Korea. Two Ph.D. and ten M.Phil. had been awarded under his able supervision. 

Awards and Achievements: - 
He is awarded the prestigious C.V. Raman Post Doc Fellowship by UGC, New Delhi in 2016 and completed post doc research in University of Massachusetts, Amherst, USA in 2017. 
Maharashtra State Secondary Teacher Education Association and School of Education, Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University, Nasik. awarded Best Research Paper in 2009 and Young Teacher Educator (Prerana Award) in 2019 

Publication: -
He is authored and Co-authored ten books on Education and related education. Three books published at international Level.  Around twenty research publications at national and international level are to his credit.  

Extension: -
He has initiated a number of interventions and reforms in curriculum at different levels of educational sciences and participated in the formulation of action research culture in SCERT at state level and Environmental Education at national level. He has initiated to use new educational technology (i.e. Edmodo) in the teaching learning procedure, which is offering a communication, collaboration and coaching for students.
