It provides an insight into the management of affairs of the government at all levels-national, state and local. This will also help us to understand: how human and material resources can be used to reach its desired goals. This course will also highlight the formulation and implementation of public policies, organisational structures and machinery of administration as well as administrative practices. Moreover, it addresses a relationship between government, organisations and its environment.   
This course will help the students to understand the key themes, debates, and socio-political significance of issues, which are influencing the study of Public Administration. It will be of interest to even students of other disciplines, like law, history, sociology etc. It is not only useful for Under Graduate students but is also important for research scholars and students who are appearing for competitive examinations.

Every module conforms to the four quadrant approach in that it contains 1) a 20-30 minute multimedia lecture by a recognized subject expert, 2)  a detailed essay on the theme covered by the lecture 3) a elaborate list of references including books and related online content 4) a series of questions including MCQ and short and long answer type questions.

Instructor bio


Esita Sur is presently working as an Assistant Professor in the department of Political Science at the Scottish Church College, Kolkata. She has submitted her Ph.D. in ‘Evolving Activism Among Muslim Women in Mumbai Since The 1980s’ under Dr. Bonita Aleaz from the Department of Political Science, University of Calcutta. Her research interest includes Gender Studies, Minority Community, Women and Citizenship Rights, Islam in India, Feminism and Women’s Movement, Muslim Women’s Activism in India, Religion and Women.  She has several publications  to her credit the most recent ones  being an article on ‘The Marginal Locations of Muslim Women on Various Sites in India’ is published in an edited book Marginalities in India: Themes and Perspectives by Asmita Bhattacharya and Sudeep Basu from Springer Nature, Singapore in 2018 AND an article on ‘Triple Talaq Bill in India: Muslim Women as Political Subjects or Victims?’ is published in Space and Culture in India, England ACCB Publishing (volume 5, number 3) in 2018. Esita has also attended several workshops and seminars on her areas of interests and have also presented papers in a few of them. She has recently presented a paper on ‘Triple Talaq and Muslim Women in India’ in the International Conference on  Gender and Sexuality in Asia at Monash University, Malaysia held from 12th November to 14th November 2018.
