The purpose of this course is to provide teachers with the knowledge and skills to integrate Action Research as a teaching and problem solving methodology.
Action Research is a process for problem solving and problem verification. The process can be used by an individual, teacher or a Principal, but studies indicate the process works best through cooperation and collaboration. This course will be taught by employing the following attributes of the Action Research process:
  • Problem definition/identification, the research questions
  • A process of Action Research
  • Collection of data
  • Data recording and interpretation
  • Reporting
After presenting the elements of Action Research and having participants demonstrate competency in their use, the participants will employ the process to answer prescribed questions, and discover solutions to educational/classroom related problems. The participants are required to prepare a plan of Action Research on the real problem in the field of Education.

Prof. Rajendra Pal

CIET, NCERT, New Delhi
Prof. Rajendra Pal, has completed Bachelors of Science (Bio Science), Masters of Education, M. Phil and Ph.D. (Education) from Institute of Education, Devi Ahiliya Vishwavidyalaya, (DAVV) Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India.  He is serving National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), New Delhi, India since 1995 in various capacity in the area of educational research and presently working as Professor and Head of Media Production Division, Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET), a constituent unit of NCERT. He is Channel coordinator of one of the Educational Television Channel “SWAYAM PRABHA”. Prior to NCERT he has worked at Academic Staff Collage DAVV, Indore, National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), New Delhi, National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) New Delhi etc.  

Prof. Pal designed, developed and executed first Online Course of CIET, NCERT on Action Research in Educational Technology in 2010, Organized first Audio conferencing program of CIET, NCERT and evolved “off timing model of audioconferencing” through All India Radio (AIR). He was associated with first ever Video-Teleconferencing of NCERT prior to launch of Edu Sat (Education Satellite) and after Edu Sat and conducted several orientation programs for teacher educators through videoconference. Conducted several research studies of NCERT. Organized workshops and orientation programs on Educational Technology, ICT, Media Program Development and other related areas for Teacher Educators of DIETs/SCERTs, IASE and CTEs etc. Written several Media scripts for audio and video programs, Organized workshops on Action Research/Research Methodology/ Teaching Aids/ Microteaching/CCE etc. for various Teacher Education Institutions. Founder Member of Global Educational Research Association (GERA) and Life memb[2, 5] ∪ (5, 8]er of All Indian Association of Educational Research (AIAER).  Prof. Pal authored books entitled “Curriculum Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” “Experimental Educational Psychology” “Capacity Building of Teacher and Educators: EDUSAT- Background, Researches and Guidelines” and “Content Analysis” Contribute chapters in several Edited Books. Published several research papers in National and International referred Journals, Presented papers and delivered key note addresses in several National and International conferences. Awarded Best Paper Presentation entitled – “Factors Affecting Students’ Academic Performance during Examinations: A Study of live helpline” organized by UNESCO during the International Conference on Distance Learning Research and Innovation for a Digital Society held at Bangkok. He is also member of the Board of Studies in Universities and Member in Editorial Boards of Journals of Education.
