Basics of Russian:  Communication Skills-II 

The course aims at providing beginners with basics of Russian Language. The objective of the course is to introduce learners to the basics of Russian phonetics so that they can read, write, listen and speak Russian in an accurate manner. Communicative method of Teaching has been used for this course. The course will enable learners to Listen and Speak Russian with confidence in their daily communications.

    Block-1 Listening and Speaking-I

    Unit 1- Russian sounds
    Unit 2- Voiced & voiceless consonants

    Week 2

    Unit 3- Gender in Russian Language
    Unit 4- Russian verbs and their conjugations

    Unit 5- Interrogative words and expressions

    Week 3

    Block-2 Listening and Speaking-II

    Unit 1- Construction of sentences expressing place of action.
    Unit 2- Construction of sentence indicating ―about whom and about what‖
    Unit 3- Verbs of motion

    Week 4

    Unit 4- Aspects of Russian verbs
    Unit 5- Complex sentences

    Week 5

    Block-3 Listening and Speaking-III

    Unit 1- Direct objects of Transitive verbs Inanimate Masculine and neuter singular noun, qualifying adjective and pronoun.

    Unit 2- Direct objects of Transitive verbs Inanimate feminine singular noun, qualifying adjective and pronoun, inanimate plural.

    Week 6

    Unit 3- Direct objects of Transitive verbs animate singular noun, qualifying adjective and pronoun

    Unit 4- Direct objects of Transitive verbs animate plural noun, qualifying adjective and pronoun
    Unit 5- Complex sentences and expression of time.

    Block-4 Listening and Speaking-IV

    Unit 1- Nouns expressing possession/belongingness and negation
    Unit 2- Adjectives expressing possession/belongingness and negation

    Week 8

    Unit 3- Adjective with numerals and comparative forms of adjective

    Unit 4- Plural nouns indicating possession/belongingness and negation

    Week 9

    Unit 5- Adjective and pronoun indicating possession/belongingness and negation in plural

    Block-5 Listening and Speaking-V

    Unit 1- Forms of noun indicating indirect object
    Unit 2- Forms of adjectives and pronouns indicating indirect object.

    Week 11

    Unit 3- Plural forms singular nouns, adjective and pronouns indicating instrument of action

    Unit 4- Forms of singular nouns, adjective and pronouns indicating instrument of action.

    Mr. Shivaji Bhaskar is Assistant Professor in Russian at the School of Foreign Languages, IGNOU. His area of special interest is Teaching of Russian as a Foreign Language (РКИ), Culture & Civilization of Russia, Translation & Interpretation and Area Studies with special emphasis to Russian and Eurasian Studies.
