This is an elective course of 3 credits which is  part of the Masters in Library and Information Science Programme in many of the Universities. This course will focus on the area of web resource or content and their management.The course is divided into two major themes: content development and content management.Under content development different tools that are useful for libraries in content creation such as graphics, animations, simulation, screen casting, audio/ video etc. are covered. In content management major content management platforms like DRUPAL and JOOMLA which can be also used for creating library websites and other services are covered. The course also covers Learning Management System Moodle which can be useful for creating online training  programmes and other useful web 2.0 tools for libraries such as Wiki, Blogs etc. Other than that important aspects like standards, formats and IPR issues are also discussed.

Prof. Uma Kanjilal 
 Professor of Library and Information Science
 Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and
Director, Inter University Consortium. 


Prof. Uma Kanjilal is a Professor of Library and Information Science in the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and Director, Inter University Consortium. She has 30 years of teaching experience in IGNOU.

Prof. Kanjilal was Fulbright scholar in the University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign, USA in 1999-2000 where she worked on multimedia and web based courseware development. Her area of specialization includes: e- learning, multimedia courseware development, and digital libraries.
