Plants are a part of the biosphere. Without plants life, as we know it, would not be able to exist, since all animals are directly or indirectly dependent on plants for the food needed for their survival. Plants also play an important role in maintaining soil fertility, which is an essential component needed for their growth.

Learners will be able to comprehend about the water metabolism, photosynthesis in plants while also being able to explain about their respiration and nitrogen metabolism.

Learners will also be able to distinguish between the effects of various growth hormones on the growth of plants.

In addition, learners will be able to enhance their knowledge about various aspects of plant tissue culture, while also being able to discern about cloning in plants.

Dr. Monica Jain has been working as a Professor and Head, Dept. of Life Sciences at Maharaja Ranjit Singh College of Professional Sciences, Indore (MP). She holds seventeen years of under-graduate and fifteen years of post-graduate teaching experience of Life Science courses. Her area of specialization is in Plant Biotechnology, which involves research on Mutagenesis and production of novel traits", In vitro regeneration" and Enhancement of secondary metabolites in plant cell suspension cultures. Dr. Jain has various research publications as research papers in peer reviewed international journals, as posters and oral paper presentations in national and international level conferences.
